The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, stated this April 10 in a public event that his hand will never tremble to do the right thing, in reference to his decision to give the order for the national public force to break into the embassy in Mexico in order to capture former vice president Jorge Glas (2012-2018).
“We will never allow impunity and corruption to take over Ecuador (…) and you can be sure that my hand will never shake to do the right thing,” said the president.
Noboa’s statements coincide with the vote to condemn Ecuador in the Organization of American States (OAS) after the events recorded on April 5.

With 29 votes in favor, one vote against, one abstention, and two countries absent, the OAS approved the resolution called “Intrusion of the Ecuadorian Police into the Embassy of Mexico in violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, and the Institution of the Diplomatic Asylum.
The text points out in its first point a strong condemnation to Ecuador’s intrusion into the facilities of the Mexican embassy and to the acts of violence carried out against the integrity and dignity of diplomatic personnel.
The speakers in the session mostly rejected the violent entry of Ecuadorian soldiers into the Mexican diplomatic legation in Quito and there were calls for both countries to resolve this “serious matter” constructively, and even to restore the figure of asylum granted to Glas.
