President Danilo Medina led the formal inauguration of the Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda hotel, with which 1,200 jobs have been created in the area.
The head of state was accompanied at the ceremony by Yamil Isaías, Executive Vice President of the Pioneer Investment Fund Management Society, Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García with whom he made the ribbon cut, as well as the main executives of the hotel group .
The new tourist establishment is the first “Exclusive Collection” and “Green Globe Certified” resort in America that owns the brand and that adds it to more than 80 Club Med facilities developed by the Pioneer Investment Funds Management Company worldwide .
The resort has more than 300 suites scattered in four boutique-style villas called: Explorer Cove (158 rooms), Emerald Jungle (48 rooms), Archipelago (18 suites) and Caribbean Paradise (111 rooms).
The infrastructure strengthens the hotel offer in the Dominican Republic and the East, maintaining the ecological essence of the Miches area.
Isaiah said that “the goal of Cub Med is to maintain its ecological essence so that guests visiting the resort can understand the natural beauty that attracted this destination in the first place.”
In addition, the hotel that was developed by the Therrestra Group has an ecological environment, dedicating its design, activities and elements to the region it is surrounded by.
At the ceremony spoke the mayor of Miches, Federico Bencosme, who highlighted the opportunity and the era that begins with the inauguration of this hotel. Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda will have a plastic sorbets-free initiative as part of Club Med’s worldwide commitment to eliminate the use of plastic from all its resorts.
In the act they were also present; the ambassador of the United States, Robin S. Bernstein; Frank Rainieri, CEO of the Puntacana Group; Ernesto Veloz, president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Projects of the East (Asoleste); Hugo Pérez Ovalles, president of Grupo Therrestra, among others.
The project
Prior to construction, Club Med worked in collaboration with local government agencies to conduct an environmental impact study to ensure the preservation of Miches’ natural beauty.
During the construction period the hotel contributed to the creation of 1,200 jobs for residents of the Miches area and nearby towns in El Seibo.
In addition, the recruitment and training of hotel employees was carried out jointly with the National Institute of Vocational Technical Training (Infotep), through programs that covered languages, skills in the hotel and vocational industry.
Installation
The hotel has Beach Lounge Restaurant, family and main restaurant, Coal & Copper grill, playgrounds for children, among other amenities.
It is recalled that the new complex received its first guests on November 23, 2019, who had the opportunity to experience the architecture and design of the resort, with a concept that perfectly combines four boutique villages in a single resort to create an experience of truly personalized vacation.
