Presents the first results after the introduction of the new procedure for prescribing reimbursable medicines and the planned changes in the criteria for the location of pharmacies

Wednesday, August 12, at At 10:00, we invite media representatives to a remote press conference, where we will present the first results to the general public after the introduction of the new procedure for prescribing reimbursable medicines. Since April, doctors have indicated the active substance of a medicine in the prescriptions of state reimbursable medicines, not the name of the medicine. This has reduced both patient co-payments and managed to reduce the prices of some medicines.
We will also present the planned changes in the criteria for the location of pharmacies in order to reduce the concentration of pharmacies and promote a more even distribution of them, including in less populated areas.
The press conference will be attended by:
· Ilze Ņķele – Minister of Health;
· Inese Kaupere – Director of the Pharmacy Department of the Ministry of Health;
· Dita Okmane – Head of the Public Relations Department of the State Agency of Medicines.
It has already been reported that the Ministry of Health is working to improve both the physical and financial availability of medicines in general, as well as to improve the quality of pharmaceutical care.
