Basic prerequisites for all QA and QBA courses


  • Be a member in good standing of the Order
  • Have a recognized university degree


One-Part QA – Graduate Specialist (HIS)


Basic prerequisites, and:

  • Hold a university baccalaureate of at least 120 credits, including 54 credits in the discipline of specialization, with a minimum average of 70% (B)provide the transcript of your university baccalaureate
  • Have at least two years of successful experienceit is in teaching, in the classroom, including at least one year in teaching in the subject concerned, confirmed by your supervisory officer or his manager – provide a Certificate of experience

To apply for the QA – Specialist in Graduate Studies in General Sciences, you must have at least one full course in each of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry and Physics. If you would like to register for a Graduate Specialist ‘Leadership in Programming and Supervision’ course, please select a ‘teachable subject’ to register. You will automatically be enrolled in the foundation course.


3-part QA – part I


3-part QA – part II


Basic prerequisites, and:

  • Have successfully completed Part I of the course, with mention on their qualification and registration certificate from the Order
  • Have one year of successful teaching experience in the classroom, confirmed by your supervisor or managerprovide a Certificate of experience


3-part QA – part III (specialist)


Basic prerequisites, and:

  • Have successfully completed Part II of the course, with mention on their certificate of qualification and registration from the Order
  • Have at least 2 years of successful teaching experience in the classroom, including at least one year in teaching in the subject concerned, confirmed by your supervisory officer or his managerprovide a Certificate of experience


QBA – intermediate cycle


Basic prerequisites, and:

  • Have successfully completed at least 4 courses in a university session totaling 12 credits in the discipline concernedprovide lthe transcript of your university baccalaureate


QBA – graduate cycle


Basic prerequisites, and:

  • Have successfully completed at least 6 courses in a university session totaling 18 credits in the discipline concerned –provide the transcript of your university baccalaureate


QBA – technological education


  • Certificate of qualification and registration

  • certificate qualification and registration and one of the following prerequisites:
  • experience of 12 months of work, in particular in the trade or industry in question, during which you have used skills and knowledge related to the subject

  • studies Post-secondary equivalent to 12 months of work experience, particularly in the trade or industry in question, during which you have used subject-related skills and knowledge
  • combination post-secondary education and work experience.

  • Demonstrated skills in the technological education field in question are required for all of the above work experiences.

  • To be eligible, the work experience must have enabled the use of skills and knowledge related to the matter; it can be in commerce or in industry.
  • Teachers who do not have the required qualifications to teach in technological education should to have:

  • certificate qualification and registration
  • experience of five years of work, including in the trade or industry in question, or a combination of post-secondary education and work experience totaling five years and including:

  • at at least two years of work experience, particularly in the trade or industry in question, including at least four months without interruption, and post-secondary studies recognized by the Order consisting of:

  • on an apprenticeship program recognized by the Order
  • a proven work experience, as evidenced by an assessment of advanced skills and knowledge, in a field of technological education listed in Annex B of the regulations from the Order.


For all courses leading to a QBA:

  • Applicants who have not received their Formation to teaching in French must pass a tis of linguistic competence.

For the courses menant to a QBA – French mother tongue option (FLM):

  • Applicants who have received their Formation to teaching outside the University of Ottawa must pass a tis of linguistic competence.

For the leading course to a QA – French as a second language option, part I:

  • The candidates who have not received their Teacher Training in French must pass a tis of skill linguistic.

Once your registration has been confirmed, the academic secretary will contact you to confirm the date of the test and the method of payment of the related fees.
