Manchester United picked up an important win in their bid to finish in the top four at the end of this season. The team managed by Ralf Rangnick was able to secure three points from the headquarters of the promoted team, Norwich City.
The Red Devils won with difficulty when they met a confident Norwich at their headquarters, Carrow Road. Man United only won 1-0 thanks to a goal from the penalty spot which was executed by Cristiano Ronaldo.
The penalty was awarded after Norwich right-back Max Aarons violated Ronaldo in the forbidden box. Ronaldo, who advanced as the executor, did his job perfectly to make the score 1-0 and lasted until the game was over.
The additional three points made Man Utd move up to fifth place in the standings with 27 points. Man Utd are level on points with West Ham but the Hammers have played just 16 games.
In another match, Liverpool won 1-0 at home to Aston Villa, managed by their legend, Steven Gerrard. The goal that decided the Reds’ victory was created by Mohamed Salah’s penalty kick in the 67th minute.
Salah’s goal guarantees three points for Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp’s squad also remains in second place with a difference of one point from the leader of the standings, Manchester City.
Man City had already guaranteed three points with a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Positive results were also achieved by Chelsea, who won dramatic 3-2 over Leeds United to secure their position in the top three of the Premier League standings.
