It is only a few hours since Nissan presented the vision of the successor to the iconic “zetka” in the form of the Z Proto concept. However, we do not have good news for European applicants.

Just shortly after the unveiling of an attractive prototype Nissan Z Proto there has been speculation across the media that the successor “zetka” will not reach European markets. So we contacted the Czech representation of the carmaker and asked what it looks like with the arrival of the sports car on the domestic market.
“At the moment we cannot confirm the availability of the model for the European market, there is very little information yet. We should learn more in the coming months. “ Petr Burián from the Czech representation of the brand commented on the possible future of the Nissan Z in our market.

If these words seem like a glimmer of hope to you, don’t rejoice too much. In the meantime, an official statement from Nissan appeared in the media, according to which the arrival of a “zetka” to Europe is excluded. “The shrinking European sports car market and specific emissions regulations mean that Nissan has not been able to create a viable business model for the arrival of the next-generation production version of the Z in Europe.” stands in the brand statement. This is not good news for those interested in Europe.

However, we learned a little more about the Nissan Z That’s why. It has been worked on behind the scenes by the carmaker since the spring of 2017, and the carmaker has still not decided what the serial car will be called. There has long been speculation about the name 400Z, which reflects the rounded number of horses, but still nothing is definitively confirmed.

The novelty gets the platform of the current “zetka”, but considerably modified. The combination of the V6 engine with the six-speed manual transmission of the sports ride fan will surely please, but for some reason it would not suit you, the automatic will also have a choice. Product specialist Hiroshi Tamura revealed that the carmaker is considering a roadster body and an electrified version of the Nismo, but none of them has yet received the green light from the management.
And as an interesting fact, he stated that before Nissan decided on a six-cylinder petrol engine, it also considered a purely electric variant! Under the current emissions-bound situation, this would probably be the only hope for the model to arrive in Europe…
