Pražská plynárenská will increase the price of gas by 7.3 percent. People pay ten crowns a month

At the end of the year, Pražská plynárenská will increase the price of gas in the basic price list by an average of 7.3 percent. Customers with fixed prices will not be affected by the price adjustment, company spokesman Miroslav Vránek announced. According to him, the reason is the unfavorable price development on the wholesale markets, which has no parallel in recent years.

The company will increase prices with effect from 31 December this year. The basic price list of Standard has a minority of customers at the company, the exact number is not stated by the company.

Pražská plynárenská is one of the largest domestic energy suppliers. It supplies gas and electricity to about 425,000 consumption points. The sole shareholder of the company is Pražská plynárenská Holding, controlled by the capital city of Prague. Vránek stated that the basic price list is largely used by low-consumption customers who use natural gas only for cooking, for example.

“For a household that uses natural gas for cooking in an apartment with an annual consumption of 0.4 megawatt-hours (MWh), the monthly costs will increase by CZK 16. For a household that uses natural gas for cooking and water heating in an apartment with an annual consumption of four “Monthly costs will increase by CZK 39. For a household in an apartment that uses natural gas for cooking, water heating and heating with an annual consumption of 11 MWh, monthly costs will increase by CZK 136,” Vránek said.

Wholesale energy prices have risen sharply in recent months. The rise in gas prices was also announced last week by its largest supplier in the Czech Republic, innogy. From January, it will increase its price by 15 percent, customers with a fixed price will not be affected by the increase, similarly to Pražská plynárenská. Electricity for non-fixed innogs will increase by 19 percent from the New Year. The monthly payment in a typical family house will increase by 270 crowns for gas and by 190 crowns for electricity, said innogy.

Others are planning to raise prices. From 1 December, Pražská teplárenská will increase heat prices for its customers. The average Prague household pays CZK 250 to 350 more per month for heat. CEZ will increase the price of electricity supplies by about a third as of January 1. The price increase does not apply to customers who have a contractually fixed price. Households will pay an average of 250 crowns a month. E.ON is also going to raise prices.

“Prague’s gas situation is constantly monitored and addressed in the market. It guarantees the long-term secure supply of natural gas to its customers and, despite the difficult current situation, makes every effort to ensure the most favorable price conditions. possible, back towards customers, “Vránek added today.
