Despite the advice of the Pro League to play (exhibition) matches behind closed doors, KV Oostende still opens the gates of its stadium for the exhibition match against Varsenare. The Security Council allows a maximum of 400 supporters.
The 300 cards available were “out the door” in no time. “Numerous measures are being taken to ensure that the match runs smoothly for players, staff and everyone present,” Ostend emphasizes.
KVO stadium director Joost Depreux explains. “Both player cores are tested for corona and the players are strictly separated from the supporters present. It is therefore absolutely forbidden to ask for signatures or photos.”
“We are happy to give our supporters this experience, but we count on everyone’s cooperation and community spirit,” Depreux continues. “Some stewards have the sole task to ensure that the social distancing rules are respected. Those who do not have a ticket will not get in. In short, we guarantee that this match can be played in safe conditions.”
