Meeting The determination of the defense budget for the 2022 budget year in Commission I of the DPR was interrupted. Ministry of defence Prabowo Subianto and Commander of the Armed Forces Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto was not present at the meeting.
Member of Commission I of the PDI-P faction, TB Hasanuddin, initially highlighted a letter from the TNI Commander who sent the Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais) Lt. Gen. Joni Supriyanto. According to him, this meeting was to determine the defense budget, but the original Commander in Chief appointed his successor to represent those present at Commission I.
“With all due respect, the Commander’s letter actually needs to be corrected for budgetary matters and the final decision is made in the form of a transcript of the conclusions of Commission I with the government, meaning that this is in the interest of the state, the TNI Commander can’t just point it out,” Hasanuddin said in a meeting at the Parliament Complex. , Jakarta, Thursday (23/9).
According to him, this meeting must be attended by the Commander in Chief, Hadi Tjahjanto. Because, he said, in this meeting a draft budget will be made to be reported to the Budget Agency (Banggar) and the last day will be to draw conclusions regarding the defense budget.
In line with Hasanuddin, member of Commission I of the Democratic Faction, Syarief Hasan, said that this is the first time that a decision-making meeting on defense budget issues that was not attended by the Minister of Defense and the Commander in Chief was taking place.
“I see that this is the first precedent that has happened, while what was discussed at Commission I is one that is very strategic for the interests of the nation and state,” said Syarief.
In this meeting, Prabowo was represented by Deputy Minister of Defense Muhammad Herindra. Meanwhile, the TNI Commander was represented by the Chief of Lieutenant General Joni Supriyanto along with the Planning Assistants (Asrena) from each dimension.
Problem Invitation
On that occasion, Deputy Minister of Defense Herindra opened his voice about Asrena’s presence from each dimension. According to him, the presence of Asrena, not the chief of staff, refers to a meeting invitation from Commission I.
“According to the invitation sent to us here, the Minister of Defense, the TNI Commander, then the Chief of Staff was not invited. Here, the TNI Commander only included Asrena Kasad, Asrena Kasau, and Asrena Kasal. So here the Chief of Staff is not invited,” said Herindra.
Responding to this, TB Hasanuddin assessed that there was something wrong with the invitation. According to him, the invitation was not in accordance with the custom.
Members of the PKS Sukamta Faction Commission I also questioned the invitation letter. Because, according to him, this is the first time that the invitation to the budget decision-making meeting includes Asrena.
“This is the first time we have been invited to Asrena. Meanwhile, Asrena, Asrenum we had a meeting last week. Why are we also invited this week,” said Sukamta.
The chairman of the meeting, Abdul Kharis Almasyhari, finally decided to suspend the meeting until 11.30. However, the new meeting was reopened at 11.54 WIB.
