In the near future, the meteor shower Orionids will pass through the earth and therefore there will be many shooting stars this weekend and next week, weather agencies report. How visible they are, however, will depend on the weather.
Star lovers are not exactly offered the spectacle on a silver platter. Most of the stars will fall in the course of next week, but then there will also be the most clouds.
“If shooting stars is your hobby, I would still try it for the next few nights,” said meteorologist Leon Saris of Weerplaza.
“In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the south of the country still has a chance of a clear sky. In the night to Monday it is holes in the clouds that have to work. The nights after that there is considerably more cloud.”
‘Look at the Southern Sky’
Most of the shooting stars can be seen around the constellation Orion, hence the name, “Saris said.” It is located in the southern sky. So if you want to see the shooting stars well, keep your eyes on the south. “
The meteorologist does warn against the nightly cold and possible clouds that can throw a spanner in the works. “It does get quite cold for stargazing, the temperature is about 4 degrees inland at the end of the night. So you need a thick sweater and a bit of luck with the clearances.”
The Orionids are pieces of space rock from Halley’s Comet. They are called Orionids because they seem to come from the constellation Orion. At speeds of over 200,000 kilometers per hour, the Orionids move very quickly.
