Portugal is the third country in the world with more hotel reservations for this summer – O Jornal Económico

As countries move into the third phase of deflation, after three months in quarantine to prevent the outbreak of the new coronavirus, the tourism sector and international visitors take advantage of the summer season to resume activity.

In fact, according to the ranking from the online platform Travelgate, Portugal is on the podium of countries with more hotel and apartment reservations made in the last few days for the following months. Spain occupies the first position, representing 33.75% of reserves, the United States follows in second with 31.5% and to close, despite the great difference, Portugal appears to represent 9.8% of reserves. Italy, France and Mexico are seen as points of interest, managing to occupy 2.13%, 2.8% and 2.06% of the reservations made through the platform.

For the conclusion of this ranking, over 20,000 bookings and 3 million online searches were analyzed on 300 hotel websites and 15 airlines worldwide.

This podium differs slightly from the results recorded before the containment measures were enacted. During this period, the United States represented 43.53% of total reserves, Spain 20.86% and Portugal 7.7%.

Regionally, Andalusia is the city that most arouses interest, with 10.78% of the reservations made in the last few days, followed by Miami and the Canary Islands as the third preferred destination for tourists. Faro maintained the position of fourth place and finally comes Valencia. This fifth place was previously occupied by the state of California, which has now moved to seventh.
