The work won the 11th Novel Prize Readers Circle 2019. The story captures the ideals, pain and hopes of those who lived through a fierce century, from the Spain of the Civil War, to the Russia of the Second World War. The author commented: “I am impressed and admired by people who have to build a future for themselves by overcoming the circumstances that life imposes on them.
