Portaltic.-Facebook and Instagram begin to merge their chat services

MADRID, 17 Ago. (Portaltic/EP) –

The application of Instagram for mobile has been updated and has added a new function with which allows its users to send and receive chat messages with users of the social network Facebook through its Messenger app, as part of plans to integrate Facebook’s messaging services.

Last year already became known that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg planned a unification of the messaging structure of all the company’s products: Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, and that the company also worked so that the chats were end-to-end encrypted.

Now, as reported The Verge, Instagram has begun to spread a new update of its application over the weekend that shows a warning when opening warning of the arrival of “a new form of messages to Instagram“, with aesthetic innovations such as a new design, emojis to react and swipe responses.

However, the main novelty of the update is that Instagram now allows you to chat with people through your Facebook account through the messaging application of the social network, Messenger.

Users who choose to update and access Instagram direct messages see how the Instagram logo changes to Messenger’s, as well as the design. For the moment, it is still not possible to write to Instagram accounts from Facebook.

The new feature has started to appear to users of the Instagram app for Android and iOS mobile systems.
