Port personnel Tata Steel is on strike, boat to Camden is not leaving

IJMUIDEN – After unsuccessful discussions between FNV Metaal and the management of Tata Steel, the port staff will again strike today from 2 pm. The port staff also went on strike on Friday.

Due to the strike, a ship that has to deliver so-called tilted can rolls in Camden is now not being loaded. From Camden the ship would then continue to sail in the United States. The ship has been in the harbor of Tata Steel in IJmuiden since Friday.

Also in the coming week, actions by unions are planned to disrupt the logistics, but also the liquid process. A meeting is scheduled for Tuesday between the unions and the management of TSN, but because concrete commitments are still not forthcoming, the actions will continue and the next few will be tightened up again.

This is now the third week of strikes. More than twenty teams and departments have left all their work. Employees are concerned about their jobs after the Indian parent company announced a major restructuring in Europe.
