Porsche presents its Porsche 911 GT3 Cup type 992 – Speed ​​Magazine

After a presentation in camouflage version a few days ago, Porsche revealed for good its new baby: the 911 GT3 Cup type 992. Fruit of a collaboration with the various teams and drivers accustomed to the GT from Stuttgart, the last- born is even more successful than its predecessors.

The naturally aspirated flat-6 now develops 510 horsepower, 25 more than the older 991 Gen2. A lot of work has been done on the aerodynamics, which makes the new Cup look more like a small GT3-R than ever. The body is made of 30% aluminum. The rear hood, doors and rear spoiler are made of carbon fiber. The beast weighs 1260 kilos.

Evolution is also present in the passenger compartment. The cockpit has been completely redesigned with a carbon fiber steering wheel from the GT3-R, a new center console and a new Dashboard offering even more information. The electronics, in particular the data acquisition system, have been redesigned to be more precise and avoid diagnostic errors.

Still in its policy of avoiding the arms race, Porsche announces an engine check-up after 100 hours of driving, minor gearbox overhauls after 60 hours and a complete overhaul after 120 hours.

Other new features include anchor points for tows in fabric and no longer in plastic, competition-type gimbals, repositioned water radiators, the absence of fuses for the interior electronic system or even automatic ignition. hazard warning lights in the event of stalling.

The price of this beauty remains: 225,000 € excluding taxes. The 911 GT3 Cup (992) will be available from 2021 for the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup but also several Carrera Cup championships including the Benelux. (M.B)
