Porsche Design and AGON by AOC unveil the new PD32M: a 4K, 144 Hz, HDR 1400 premium display

AGON by AOC – one of the world’s leading brands for gaming monitors* and IT accessories – has unveiled a new exceptional gaming monitor: the Porsche Design AOC AGON PRO PD32M.

The 80cm/31.5″ premium gaming display features a unique design inspired by the features and details of a Porsche sports car. Combining high performance with superior quality and finish, the PD32M is perfect for dynamic competitions by the most demanding gamers, thanks to its crisp 4K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate and 1ms GtG response time. The Porsche Design AOC AGON PRO PD32M also features MiniLED backlight technology and DisplayHDR 1400 support – creating an unparalleled visual experience.

“With our long-standing partner Porsche Design, we have once again created an iconic and highly capable gaming monitor that combines the best of both worlds. As a true multi-function device, the PD32M comes with features that will appeal to both skilled and ambitious gamers and content creators, enabling them to improve their performance and productivity,” said Stefan Sommer, Global Head of Marketing at TPV.

“Our overarching goal was to create a high-end monitor with advanced design and superior technology. In 2020, Porsche Design and AGON by AOC collaborated on the PD27, a 240 Hz QHD gaming monitor, with a stand that resembles the roll cage of a Porsche racing car. With the second-generation gaming monitor, we’ve taken the race-inspired design even further. For example, it integrates design elements from the steering wheel and spokes of a sports car,” said Roland Heiler, Chief Design Officer at Porsche Design.

Functional design inspired by sports cars

The functionality of the PD32M standard determines the form. Rigidity and robustness are key elements within the gaming industry and as a result these characteristics are subtly applied to the screen housing and the sandblasted aluminum die-cast stand. Compactness is also paramount for monitors, which is why the display panel housing design follows the functional layout of the internal components. This results in tapered surfaces on the rear of the monitor that emerge from the panel itself towards the main housings. Separate visual holes also lead to the different connector locations. To visually optimize the panel’s thinness, the display housing tapers closely to the sides with a slight slope, creating a trapezoidal shape, including metal mesh inlays for the cooling and audio speakers. These areas are also indirectly backlit with RGB to unobtrusively immerse, enhance and express dynamism for the overall gaming experience. Subtle extra details, such as a horizontal backlit cooling strip, are inspired by air-cooled filters found on sports cars. The product branding is also presented in a lively manner by means of an interchangeable projection logo.

Experience high performance

It’s not just the design that sets the monitor apart from other gaming monitors on the market; the large 31.5-inch monitor sits robustly on the desk and is height-adjustable for ergonomic positioning. The stand also supports hinge adjustment for vertical orientation.

The Porsche Design AOC AGON PRO PD32M features a flat IPS (AAS) panel, which reproduces 1.07 billion colors to display even subtle differences in hues. It is also highly color accurate with 97 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space to achieve true-to-life colors and tones. Integrating the state-of-the-art MiniLED backlight technology, the monitor features 1,152 dimming zones, which can light up individually according to the image content. Proven to reproduce both dazzling sunlight and very intense black shadows in the same frame, the PD32M is certified with the premium HDR certification, DisplayHDR 1400. With a peak brightness of up to 1400 nits, it cuts the usual brightness of ~300 nits from modern gaming monitors.

The IPS panel runs in pin-sharp 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) with a high, fast refresh rate of 144 Hz. With a true GtG response time of 1 ms, the so-called “ghosting” between frames is virtually eliminated. With the addition of Adaptive-Sync, the new device can perform variable refresh rate (VRR) implementations, eliminating artifacts such as tearing and stuttering. The PD32M is suitable for both PC and console gamers, thanks to the DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.1 ports. The monitor also supports devices up to 120 Hz at 4K via USB-C, as well as current-generation consoles via HDMI 2.1.

Perfectly suited for content creators

The Porsche Design AOC AGON PRO PD32M also doubles as a productivity machine for content creators, designers, editors or programmers. It is a perfect home office monitor with its USB-C input, allowing the monitor to receive both the display signal and power (up to 90W – depending on the HDR setting) and transfer data to a connected notebook with just a single USB-C cable. In addition, notebook computers can access and use any devices connected to the monitor’s 4-port USB 3.2 hub, such as keyboards, mice, or external drives. Finally, the PD32M features a KVM switch, allowing users to easily switch between two sources, such as a gaming PC and a work notebook, while using the same keyboard and mouse. The monitor can display both sources simultaneously in Picture-by-Picture mode (up to UHD at 60Hz) via the DP, HDMI or USB-C ports.

In addition, the PD32M has a powerful sound system. Dual 8W speakers enhanced with DTS sound provide the rich and clear audio experience gamers expect.

Customizable RGB lighting

While the PD32M is already unique, it can be further customized. The device features fully customizable RGB (Light FX) lighting on the back of the display. At startup, the monitor greets users with an animated startup logo and a special sound. The on-screen display (OSD) menu is designed with a unique and easy-to-use structure, while a wireless gaming keyboard is included to allow users to quickly and comfortably access the monitor’s OSD settings. Last but not least, the monitor comes in a premium packaging and with a USB stick with user manuals and accompanying software.

The Porsche Design AOC AGON PRO PD32M is now available in Porsche Design stores, specialty stores and online at www.porsche-design.comas well as in selected online stores, for a suggested retail price of €1,999.
