The Population Screening somewhat misses its target. Every two years, Flemish people in the target group aged 50 to 74 are invited to be screened for colorectal cancer, but a quarter of them are never reached. “In Belgium we lose ten people a day to the disease”, specialist Luc Colemont of the non-profit organization Stop Bowel Cancer. “But we can be spared a lot of suffering.”
