Pop-it sets for children and adults are in demand

Most of them still remember the fidget spinner trend. The little finger propellers have long since disappeared deep into the toy box – but now there is more: Pop-it-Toys* make the kids crazy on Youtube, TikTok & Co. These are colorful silicone molds with soft bubbles that can be pressed down and then pop more or less loudly (similar to air cushion foils). What’s the point? Allegedly a lot. Because sensory toys should have a therapeutic effect.

Pop-it effect: do the colored parts help against stress?

So-called “fidget toys” are anti-stress toys that can be used by both children and adults. Dealing with it should help fidgety people to reduce excess energy and to concentrate better. According to the manufacturers, the toys are even good for ADHD patients – but be careful: Even in the days of fidget spinners, there was a little psychologist argument about the sense or nonsense of the parts. The fact is, however, that sensory toys have been used for therapeutic purposes since the 1970s.

Child psychologist Dr. Will Shield explains the effect as follows: “Sensory toys activate one or more senses, for example sight, hearing or the sense of touch,” says the expert in Interview with the British TV broadcaster BBC. The attention is drawn to the toy by great emotions or negative thoughts.

Doesn’t sound too bad after all. In any case, Pop its doesn’t seem to be harmful. Yes, they are usually made from China and yes, you can achieve a similar effect with a ballpoint pen that moves from finger to finger. But: if the Pop its are no longer used for playing, they can still be used as a practical mini ice cube mold!

There are now countless Pop-its and Pop-its sets in all imaginable colors and forms: unicorns to press, llamas, butterflies – at prices between 3 euros and 30 euros. We present a few variants.

These shapes from HiCollie are squeaky colored and easy to squeeze. Since they are made of silicone, the small mats can also be used as coasters for pots or pans, writes the manufacturer.

This part is fun for a long time because it is comparatively big. According to the manufacturer, the squeeze toy for just under 8 euros should distract from bad habits such as nail biting or skin picking.

By the way, games are also possible with Pop-it-Toys – for example a “cheese box” version in which players take turns pressing down bubbles and completing a row. (SPR)
