Poll among Amsterdammers: GL and D66 are losing a lot | Inland

Last weekend, De Hond investigated the voting behavior of Amsterdammers and related it to the national poll.

The main conclusion is that the capital city coalition parties GL, D66 and SP in Amsterdam are losing significantly. “What makes the situation in Amsterdam special is that GL and D66 are losing considerably and are relatively much greater in Amsterdam than in the whole of the Netherlands,” says De Hond.

PvdA benefits

“In 2017, GL and D66 together had 39% in Amsterdam, while that percentage was around 20% in the Netherlands as a whole. The loss of these two parties is therefore clearly greater in Amsterdam than in the whole of the Netherlands. That favors the PvdA, which will also win more in Amsterdam than the average in the Netherlands. ”

It is also striking that the traditionally ‘red capital’ could turn blue during the parliamentary elections from 17 March.

According to De Hond’s research, the VVD would come out as the largest party. The percentage of voters for that party has been stable in the overview since 2017. The VVD does not participate in the municipal council, but is the largest opposition party.

The poll says that it will be particularly noticeable that new parties such as JA21, Bij1 and Volt will also score well in Amsterdam. “Relatively speaking, better than in the whole of the Netherlands,” says De Hond. It is still unclear how many votes that will be. “At most you can state that under the heading ‘Rest’ mainly JA21, BIJ1 and Volt are seen.”

Think goes down

In addition, it can also be inferred that the PvdD is on the rise among Amsterdam voters, as is FvD. It can be seen that the PVV in Amsterdam can expect slightly fewer votes, while the CDA and CU can count on slightly more votes from voters. According to De Hond, 50Plus appears to be counting fewer votes, as does Denk.
