Polish store in Rotterdam shot at for second night in a row | NOW

A Polish store on Franselaan in Rotterdam was shot at Monday evening. There were multiple impacts in the window, a police spokesman said. There are no injuries.

The store became Sunday night even shot at. Officers discovered two bullet holes in the facade. No one was injured then either.

Local residents had alerted the police on Monday evening and said they had heard multiple shots. Then they saw a car driving away.

There have been five blasts since December at Polish supermarkets, which are run by Iraqi Kurds. In December there were explosions at supermarkets in Aalsmeer, Heeswijk-Dinther and twice at the same store in Beverwijk. In January there was another attack on a Polish supermarket. At the time, the store on Paletplein in Tilburg was the target of the same family that also operates the supermarkets in Aalsmeer and Beverwijk.

A spokesman for the police could not say on Monday evening whether there is a connection between these earlier explosions and the recent shelling in Rotterdam.
