  • Cracovia won the Polish Cup for the first time in its history
  • The lead in the match was changing like a kaleidoscope, extra time was needed to decide the final result

In the first minute, Sergiu Hanca had a nice shot at the seemingly lost ball, grabbed it just before the end line and found himself alone with Zlatan Alomerovic. He only had a very sharp angle to shoot and Lechia’s goalkeeper bounced the ball. For the citizens of Gdańsk, it ended with fear. After a moment of advantage of Cracovia, she crushed Lechia, but without a goal.

In 20 minutes, a fatal mistake was made by Michał Helik, who noted a loss near the penalty area. Żarko Udovicić intercepted the ball and threw it into the penalty area. Omran Haydary struck right away and gave Lechia the lead.

The belts immediately tried to attack and make up for the loss. However, they could not find a recipe for passing the opponent’s defense. In the 27th minute, she finally managed to make a quick and dangerous attack. Mateusz Wdowiak found himself in the penalty area, but after a ricochet he hit the side net.

Lukas Hrosso had to be vigilant all the time, as he had to throw the ball over the bar after a sharp corner kick. Lechia dominated the opponent in the second part of the first half. In the 40th minute, Udovicić fired a shot on goal after a nice series of feints, but was blocked. Karol Fila was shooting in a moment. After the ricochet, the ball slightly passed the post. After the corner kick, Rafał Pietrzak was close to hitting the ball into the goal from the closest distance.

In the 50th minute after the throw-in, the ball fell at David Jablonsky’s feet, but the Cracovia defender was well covered and from a few meters he failed to hit the ball into the net. In the 60th minute we had an action on the other side. The match could have been closed by Conrado, who ended his rally with a shot, but still in goalkeeper Hrosso.

Just a minute later Florian Loshaj hit the post after a shot. In the 64th minute, Alomerović had a problem with defending Kamil Pestka’s shot from a distance. What he failed to do was another Pasów competitor. Pelle van Amersfoort perfectly received the ball in the penalty area and made a volley. The Dutchman scored 1: 1.

In the 75th minute, Cracovia carried out an unbelievable action. The ball from the wing was deeply crossed by Wdowiak. Cornel Rapa caught up with her on the second meter from the goal and shot her into the net from close range. However, the Romanian goal was not recognized, because the ball bounced off his hand.

In the 79th minute, Mario Maloc faced van Amersfoort at the sideline. As he fell, he kicked the Dutchman with his leg outstretched. He received a red card for this, and the players of both teams jumped at each other’s throats. The situation was quickly brought under control.

When it seemed that Lechia would not have a chance to win this match, the inhabitants of Gdańsk pushed it. First, the ball was crossed to Flavio Paixao in the 85th minute, a moment later it returned outside the penalty area, and Conrado sent a strong center to the sixteenth. A killer shot for Cracovia was given by Patryk Lipski, who appeared on the pitch a moment earlier. There was no end to joy in the team from Tri-City.

In the 88th minute, however, it was already 2: 2, and after a series of corners, Jablonsky hit. Such a result meant extra time, but Belts did not intend to give up their attacks. In added time, the entire team from Krakow demanded that a penalty be dictated for playing the ball with Jarosław Kubicki’s hand. The judge did not decide to whistle the eleven. It turned out that extra time would be needed to determine the winner.

In the 101st minute Tomas Vestenicky hit technically very well, but the ball just passed the crossbar. Four minutes later, Loshaj sent the bomb on Lechia’s goal, and Alomerović hit the ball. Cracovia dominated in the second half of extra time, but could not score. When it seemed that nothing would change and penalties would be needed, Wdowiak closed Pestka’s cross with a spectacular volley.
