“Police Stop Overcrowded Car with Unrestrained Children on Westautobahn”

During a routine traffic check on the Westautobahn near Ansfelden on May 1, 2023, police officers noticed that too many people had taken a seat in a car. The car, equipped with six seats, had been heading towards Vienna. Only as the official procedure continued did the officials notice that two women were hiding their children, who had been transported on their laps, under garment bags. Neither the mothers nor the children, two and six years old, were secured by appropriate restraint systems. Since the car was of course not allowed to continue, they were escorted to Linz main station to continue their journey home to the Ukraine. After the police organized the travel formalities such as buying tickets and finding out the right train connection, they followed through. The driver, a 34-year-old Ukrainian, is reported, the police report.
