This incident brings to mind a similar violent confrontation at Auckland Girls’ Grammar School in 2021, which involved students physically assaulting one another in a school car park. Reports from that event indicated up to ten girls participated in the scuffle.
At the time of the 2021 incident, the school’s principal, Ngaire Ashmore, stated that fighting was “not a common occurrence” at the school. However, a concerned parent described the level of violence as “shocking.”
Data from the Ministry of Education indicates that school-related violence remains a persistent issue.
