Police officer overthrown in Essonne: the main suspect in detention

The main suspect in the assault on a police officer last week in Savigny-sur-Orge (Essonne) was placed in detention on Monday, the Evry prosecutor’s office told AFP, confirming information from BFM.

The alleged driver presented himself to the Essonne departmental security department on Monday, accompanied by a lawyer. He was then placed in detention, pending his presentation to justice.

Last week, on the night of October 13 to 14, in Savigny-sur-Orge, a crew from the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) wanted to check the identity of people considered “Suspicious near a vehicle which turned out to be stolen”, according to a statement from the prosecution.

The driver had then started “Suddenly” and “Hit” a police brigadier-chief, “Before running over him to take flight”.

The driver, identified by the officers and “Unfavorably known” police, then fled and was wanted.

According to a police source, he was born in 1981. The 40-year-old brigadier-chef was seriously injured.
