The cantonal police made a special find in Wittenbach SG: An Asian giant crab spider was discovered in an industrial company.
–
On Monday, the police wrote on Facebook: “Guinea pigs, goats, birds – the St.Gallen cantonal police are repeatedly called for operations with animals. However, an Asian giant crab spider can be described as exotic. »
–
The animal is poisonous – but not fatal
The giant spider had probably crawled out of an Asian container and made itself comfortable in a Wittenbach industrial company. The spider caught a patrol and handed it over to a specialist from the Walter Zoo in Gossau SG. As can be seen in the photo, the spider is about the size of half a hand.
–
The specialist identified the spider as “Heteropoda Venatoria” – and as poisonous. A spider’s bite, however, is not fatal, but comparable to a wasp sting.
–
The St. Gallen police take the mission with humor. She writes on Facebook: “It has not yet been possible to find out whether the giant crab spider happened to be traveling to Switzerland in a container or intended to go on a ski vacation here.” (Frk)
