Police arrest three because of riots around corona protest Malieveld

Police have arrested three men suspected of being involved in the disturbances following the banned demonstration in Malieveld on June 21. An 18-year-old and a 25-year-old man from The Hague and a 33-year-old man from Rotterdam were discovered through a large-scale investigation that was set up by the police immediately after the demonstration.

The demonstration of the Virus Madness action group was forbidden by the municipality, but when protesters showed up, they were allowed to demonstrate for a short time. Football hooligans also came to the demonstration. Riots broke out at the station.

The troublemakers threw smoke bombs and stones and attacked the Mobile Unit (ME). 425 people were arrested around the demonstration.

All detainees have now been released, but twelve troublemakers remain suspects in the investigation. The police are currently investigating footage to identify other suspects. The investigation team will get help with this tonight: in the television program Investigation Requested some suspects who have not yet been identified are shown.

On Saturday, the police threatened to show the images in the program if the rioters would not report themselves.
