Police after England night: drunk people can’t keep their distance

Large groups of Englishmen broke loose on the first night that the bars in the country were open again. Photos and videos from the London entertainment district of Soho show that they were close together, lying on the street, throwing drinks over themselves and hugging each other.

“It was a predictably busy evening and it confirmed what we knew: alcohol and distance is not a good combination”, tweeted the leader of a police union. According to John Apter, it is clear that drunk people don’t like the advice not to get too close together.

He hopes that his 999 colleagues who worked last night came home unscathed. He himself worked in Southampton, where he says he was confronted with “antisocial behavior, naked men, hard drugs, people with a happy or bad drink and fights”.

‘Mostly responsible’

According to Health Minister Hancock, the relaxation of the measures was a success. “As far as I can see, people have been responsible for the most part, although there are some pictures that show the opposite,” he told SkyNews.
