Polar bear wizard continues to hunt for records

After the away win double, the mood among the polar bears is splendid, on Wednesday (6.30 p.m., MB-Arena) the fourth win in a row against Krefeld should follow. Here we go!

The penguins are far behind only decorative accessories in the northern group of the DEL. Anything other than the eighth win in the eighth home game is not an issue for the polar bears. Also not that in the exuberance of feelings of happiness, the grip is lost. The magical trio takes care of that.

The parade series with Marcel Noebels (28), Lukas Reichel (18) and Leo Pföderl (27) enchants the league. In 15 games the three collected a proud 49 points (19 goals / 30 assists), each of them have positive plus-minus statistics in the double-digit range (Noebels +17, Reichel +10, Pföderl +11). Madness!

Walker brand wobbles

But that’s not all: the cyclone is on the hunt for records. Pföderl scored 6-1 in Krefeld in the eighth game in a row, which no polar bear managed to do before him.

At 4-1 in Iserlohn, he even expanded the club record previously held by the legendary Steve Walker from the 2009/10 season and Sean Backman 2018/19 (both seven) with the final score in the empty goal.

Noebels is still in the middle of the hunt for a new EHC record. The top player of the previous season has always scored points in the 13 previous games. If he succeeds against Krefeld, Walker (2007/08) and Backman (2017/18) are also dethroned here.

Extra praise for Reichel

Young star Reichel, number 17 drawn by the Chicago Blackhawks in round one of the NHL draft, is getting stronger and stronger at the side of the bear’s best. Trainer Serge Aubin gives an extra praise: “He is very stable on the ice and difficult to separate from the target.”

And what’s the secret to the magic of this series? If you believe Marcel Noebels, there is none: “Leo, Lukas and I all enjoy ice hockey and you can see that in our game.”
