Poland received a billion euro from the EU to protect jobs

The Commission also made payments today to Italy (€ 10 billion from almost € 27.5 billion) and Spain (€ 6 billion from € 21.3 billion).

The SURE facility can provide loans totaling € 100 billion. So far, on the basis of Commission proposals, the European Council has approved the transfer of EUR 87.9 billion to several Member States.

The money comes from bonds issued by the European Commission.

From the outset, the pandemic raised questions about the sustainability of the labor market. Support for companies, proposed by the government in response to the first wave of the coronavirus, largely depended on maintaining employment in the companies that applied for it. The unemployment rate remains at around 6%. However, there are voivodships where the situation is very difficult – places where 43 unemployed persons per job. There are also industries that are at particular risk – especially services for which there are no customers, which cannot be performed remotely, etc.
