Poland has one of the cheapest fuels in Europe

The head of the fuel concern pointed out that it is not the Polish government that is responsible for high fuel prices. I would like to point out that it is the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, who attacked the sovereign state – Ukraine – responsible for this, said Daniel Obajtek on Polish Radio.

The President of PKN Orlen noted that prices are also influenced by, inter alia, the price of a barrel of oil in world markets. Currently, it is 112 dollars (against the Kursk dollar 4.42 zlotys). Last year, at the rate of PLN 3.60, a barrel cost less than $ 80.

“One of the cheapest fuels”

– I know that fuels are expensive and we do not hide it – everyone can see what the prices are. But please see, we are not an economy detached from reality, see prices in other countries – pointed out the head of Orlen.

– We in Poland have one of the cheapest fuels in Europe and this is a fact. I know the opposition will talk about the purchasing power of money, but today nobody buys oil on the basis of the purchasing power of money. Today, crude oil is indexed on stock exchanges, it has specific price parameters, regardless of who, in what country and how much – explained Obajtek.

The president of the fuel giant admitted that the prices may be lower, thanks the reduced excise duty introduced by the government. – But this is also a great merit of Orlen, because we have properly balanced our activities and we could allow ourselves to stabilize these fuel prices – said Obajtek.

When asked about the company’s profit, at a price of PLN 7.20 per liter of gasoline, the head of PKN Orlen assured that the profit was comparable to the year before. – The operating profit from retail retail trade is the same in the first quarter of 2022 as in the first quarter of 2021; it is proof that the company does not loot consumers – explained Obajtek.
