The Pokémon Company is gearing up to release a significant expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG), promising a nostalgic journey for seasoned players and an exciting entry point for newcomers. slated for release on July 18, 2025, the expansion is divided into two complementary sets: Karmesin & Purple—Black Flashes and Karmesin & Purple—White flames.

Rediscovering the Unova Region

A core feature of these expansions is the inclusion of cards featuring the 156 Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region. This focus on a beloved generation of Pokémon is designed to appeal to long-time fans while introducing these characters to a new audience.

Each Unova Pokémon will be represented with special artwork, appearing as either a rare, illustration or rare, special illustration card.These cards are expected to be highly sought after by collectors and players alike.

Adding to the excitement, the legendary Pokémon Zekrom and Reshiram will headline each set, respectively. Zekrom will be featured in Black Flashes, while Reshiram will take center stage in White Flames.

Nostalgic Elements and New Rarities

Each expansion comprises three different holographic parallel sets, with two of them shimmer in two of them either in a rainbow-colored pokéball or masterball pattern. In addition, players can look forward to collecting new cards, which have most recently seen in the Schwarz & White series, including maps with nostalgic holographic patterns and basic energy cards with designs of the original schwarz & White series.

This integration of classic holographic patterns and energy card designs from the original Black & White series is a purposeful nod to the game’s history, sure to resonate with veteran players.
