Pokémon just introduced its own multiverse

Pokemon Travel has introduced its own kind of multiverse with the latest episode of the anime. Fans outside of Japan are currently awaiting the release of the next batch of episodes for Pokemon Master Journeys on Netflix, but new episodes are streaming weekly in Japan. In fact, this month the series kicked off a special two-part event celebrating the release of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl with the return of the Sinnoh region and fan-favorite characters like Dawn, Cynthia, and more after their release. comebacks at the beginning of the year. However, this time there was a twist.

The most recent episode of the series also brought in Sinnoh’s legendary Dialga and Palkia, and just like fans saw them in the past, the two legendaries launch a battle that begins to tear apart the fabric of time and space. This creates a series of doors between two different universes where one is completely devoid of Pokémon, as the time scrolling has evolved all of them to their original eggs along with all sorts of strange otherworldly twists.

The franchise has confirmed the idea of a multiverse in the past with the introduction of space gates and warp throughout later additions to the franchise, but Pokemon Journeys Episode 89 makes this idea the focal point as Dialga and Palkia begin to quarrel. Doors begin to open in the Sinnoh region, and Dawn soon comes face to face with an alternate universe version of herself who mistakes Dawn’s Piplup for her own. After walking through a door, Dawn discovers that this other world has many other differences.

There are small differences, such as this alternate world Dawn ranking second in the Sinnoh League rather than participating in Pokémon contests, and large differences, such as time moving very differently. It is soon revealed that it is due to Dialga distorting time, and with it, it has an effect that causes Pokémon to forget all of its moves and eventually return them all before Level 1. But this is only the first episode to explore this new one. wild universe that even includes a new Ash too!

What you think? Do you think the idea of an existing mutliverse within Pokémon should be expanded further? What would you like to see from a more developed multiverse for anime?
