Podz wins the seventh ITF title in his career

Latvian tennis player Mārtiņš Podžus the International Tennis Federation triumphed in Egypt on Saturday (ITF) Sharm el Sheikh in the M15 singles tournament, winning his seventh title at this level.

In the tournament with the third number, Podžus (ATP 450.) was defeated by the Americans Nick Chapel (ATP 441) in the final match with the result 6-4, 1-6, 7-5, who was awarded the second number.

For winning the tournament, Podži has earned ten ATP single-player ranking points.

During his career, he has won seven ITF tournaments – two each in 2014 and 2019, and one each in 2015, 2018 and 2020.

It has already been reported that in the first round Podžai was defeated by Russian tennis player Yegor Novikov 7-5, 4-6, 6-3, who had previously overcome the qualification, but in the second round he was defeated by the Italian Danieli Kapape with 6-4, 7-6 (7: 3) (ATP 620.).

In the quarter-finals Podžus defeated the Ukrainian Vladislav Manafov (ATP 532) with the sixth racket of the tournament 6-3, 7-6 (7: 3), but in the semi-finals the Kazakh tennis player Denis Yevseyev (ATP 373) won with 6-3, 6-3, who was sown with the first number.

Meanwhile, in the doubles tournament, Podžai paired with Ukrainian tennis player Yuri Javakyan on Saturday in the final.
