Pneumococcal infection in Marseille: 4,000 people will be vaccinated this Monday

The Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur Regional Health Agency has taken the necessary measures. Following the advance of a pneumococcal infection on a ship repair yard in Marseille, a large-scale vaccination campaign will be carried out on Monday. About fifteen teams will be mobilized on the spot to take part in this operation which the ARS describes itself as “major”.

4,000 employees are affected by the infection and will be vaccinated by the medical teams.
The infection observed this week by the company Chantier naval Marseille has already affected thirteen people. Analysis has shown that these people were infected with pneumococcal bacteria. These employees work alongside a cruise ship, the Norwegian Spirit, which is currently undergoing renovations and repairs. This pathology, which has nothing to do with Coronavirus, is transmitted between humans. Faced with the rise in infection, the agents working at the port asserted their right of withdrawal on Friday.
