March 11: The government bans gatherings of more than 500 people.

March 27: The government tightens the ban, which now applies to gatherings of more than 50 people. The announcement means in practice that spectators are stopped from all sports at all levels in Sweden.

August 28: The Swedish Public Health Agency proposes that the audience limit be raised to a maximum of 500 people.

September 24: The government announces that it is waiting to introduce relief for, among other things, audiences at sporting events.

October 22: The government decides to allow 300 spectators, if they sit down, from November 1.

November 1: Falkenberg takes in 267 people in the home match against Djurgården. It will be the only men’s Swedish match with an audience last season.

November 24: The limit for public events and public gatherings is lowered from 300 to 8 people.

2021

February 17: The government proposes that it will be possible to raise the ceiling from March 11.

March 31: The government decides, according to the Public Health Agency’s request, to postpone the relief of the public ceiling until May 3.

May 12: The government extends the restrictions regarding spectators in sports arenas by another two weeks. On June 1, it will be possible with more audiences – up to 500 people.

July 1: The football clubs in the two highest leagues on the women’s and men’s side will receive 3,000 supporters in the arenas. The arenas that have the opportunity can also receive 3,000 per section or delimited area on the stands.

July 3: Norrköping receives Malmö FF in front of 2,487 spectators. This is the first time there are more than 300 spectators at a men’s Swedish match since 2019.

September 7: The government announces that the participation ceiling at events and public gatherings will be removed from September 29. This means that the stands can be refilled.

December 1: The government announces that it is working to introduce vaccination certificates for public gatherings and public events, indoors, for more than 100 people from December 1.
