JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has recently issued Pergub Number 142 of 2019 concerning the Obligation to Use Environmentally Friendly Shopping Bags at Shopping Centers, Supermarkets, and People’s Markets.

The regulation, which took effect today (1/7/2020), was issued to reduce the amount of plastic waste in DKI Jakarta.

Sword claimed to complain about regulations that forbid using plastic.

“We are quite difficult. Because most buyers also don’t bring anything from home. So in the end they use plastic too,” Fahri said as a shoe trader when met at the location on Wednesday (1/7/2020).

He also gave an example of a customer who had just stopped by his shop. Instead of refusing to be wrapped in plastic, the buyers instead asked the sword to use plastic for more practical reasons.

He also acknowledged that market socialization had been carried out long ago. But the market does not provide alternative goods to replace the role of plastic.

“For example, the market is relatively rich goddie bag with a cheaper price (of plastic), yes maybe we will buy. But there is no solution, “Fahri said.

Hendra as a merchant of children’s clothing also has a similar opinion. According to him, many of the customers do not provide bags from home to shop.

In addition, he was quite annoyed with the purpose of the XSS regulation to reduce plastic waste.

“If you want to reduce plastic waste, let’s just close the plastic factories. Don’t because of this regulation, we are the victims,” he said.

Furthermore, replace plastic with tote bag will also cause new problems for. Because the price of tod bag is much more expensive than plastic.

“If the market wants to provide nothing, it’s free. Don’t tell them to buy it again,” Hendra said.

Apparently the skewed response also came from one of the buyers in the market. Anti as a housewife claimed to have difficulty shopping if the use of plastic has been banned.

“Yes, in my opinion, it’s difficult if we don’t use plastic. The thing is we really like shopping a lot. So if you use special bags, it won’t fit,” he explained.

He also advised the market to provide special shopping bags for all buyers if plastic users are prohibited.

“Like for example, at the front door of our market, one and only loved for free shopping is not new,” he said.
