The four French missing since Sunday after the crash of a small passenger plane off the coast of Dominica have not been found, said the prefecture of Guadeloupe, which announces the end of research “This Tuesday afternoon”.

“After more than 40 hours of research in difficult weather conditions, there is unfortunately no longer any hope of finding survivors”, explains the prefecture in a press release.

The aircraft, “Piper type PA 28 model”, crashed into the sea on Sunday evening when it had just taken off from Dominica’s Charles Douglas Airport in the direction of Guadeloupe. Four people were on board, a 55-year-old couple with their 16-year-old son, as well as a 40-year-old man, all French.

“Despite the substantial device put in place, research has only found passenger belongings and plane debris”, also says the press release.
