Plainfield, New Jersey receives the Guadalupana Torch – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW JERSEY – The Guadalupe Torch came to our area where parishioners paid tribute to it in Plainfield, New Jersey before it continued on its way.

The torch and its light illuminated the church of Santa María to celebrate this event. The religious gift first arrived in what is Pennsylvania, where it arrived from Mexico City. In New Jersey he came first to Clinton Elementary.

The faithful say that the torch represents a light of hope for them and that they are proud to maintain this tradition that lives in Mexico, but that now they can have in the United States even if they are far from their country.

The final destination of the torch is Central Park in the Big Apple. This is expected to be for December 12 when the Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe is celebrated. The celebration and devotion to the Empress of the Americas comes from immigrants of various nationalities who commemorate her appearance on December 12, 1531 at the Cerro del Tepeyac Summit, according to the account of the Catholic Church.

We spoke precisely with members of the Tepeyac Association in New York City, who organizes this event.

“It means a lot to me, it is the union between Mexico and the United States,” said a faithful. “For the Virgin there is no race or color. I believe that it is the union, a spiritual connection through fire. There is the light that means the light of Christ and for me it means a lot.”
