PKB believes Jokowi’s statement on identity politics does not lead to Anies

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Vice President (Waketum) of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Jazilul Fawaid believed that President Joko Widodo’s statement (Jokowi) which reminded presidential candidates (candidates) and vice-presidential candidates (cawapres) to avoid identity politicsnot addressed to Anies Baswedan.

Jazilul asked in return whether the statement was intended Anies. This is because he admitted that he did not find the political identity of the former governor of DKI Jakarta.

“Where is Mr. Anies’ identity policy? Where is his resume for Mr. Anies’ identity policy? I have to communicate it so that there is no misunderstanding,” Jazilul said at Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (11/23/2022).

Jazilul is of the opinion that Anies Baswedan has never used identity politics in any of her political career. Including, before becoming a civil servant.

“Just look at when he became governor, or an activist, there was none of that,” he said.

Thus, Jazilul believes that the issue of identity politics is deliberately linked to Anies for a specific purpose.

“In my opinion, there is some kind of decay in Pak Anies,” said the member of Commission III of the DPR.

Reflecting on this, Jazilul saw that Jokowi’s statement on identity politics was not directed at any particular presidential candidate.

“Because it will make the political atmosphere even hotter. We want this election to be a joyous event, there is no identity politics, there is also no misuse of other issues. Including race, law and tigers,” he said.

Earlier, President Jokowi reminded presidential and vice presidential candidates not to use identity politics in the 2024 presidential election contest (Pilpres).

Jokowi stressed that identity politics is very dangerous for Indonesia. Therefore, politicization of religion in SARA should be avoided.

“Avoid this. Do idea politics, idea politics. But don’t get into SARA politics, politicize religion, don’t do identity politics,” Jokowi said during a speech at the 2022 HIPMI National Conference held in Solo , as broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat Youtube channel on Monday (11/21/2022).

“It’s very dangerous for a country as big as Indonesia, which is very diverse,” he said.

Jokowi demanded that the debates that would then be held between the presidential and vice presidential candidates be debates about ideas and ideas in nation-building, not debates that actually heat up the political situation.

“This is what I remind the presidential and vice presidential candidates again, to take our political atmosphere to 2024, it’s really a bit too much, thank God it’s cool,” Jokowi said.
