PiS Congress. Jarosław Kaczyński signed the ordinance

Jarosław Kaczyński, the President of Law and Justice, signed on Tuesday (September 22) an order to convene a PiS congress in November, during which the party’s authorities will be elected for a new term, said Krzysztof Sobolewski, the head of the PiS Executive Committee.

– According to the order that has already been sent to our structures, the congress is to take place on November 7. During the meeting, elections of the head of the party, the Political Council, the peers’ court and the national audit committee will be held, said Sobolewski, who is responsible for supervising the party’s structures.

During the congress, changes in the status of the grouping concerning – as he said – the organization of local structures are also to be approved. – The planned changes are to improve the issue of district management – he explained.

He also stressed that during the congress there would be no changes in the group’s vice-presidents. – The deputy presidents are elected by the PiS Political Council, whose first meeting in the new composition will probably be convened at the end of the year – he said.

At the moment, the deputy presidents of PiS are: Beata Szydło, Joachim Brudziński, Antoni Macierewicz, Mariusz Błaszczak, Mariusz Kamiński and Adam Lipiński. For some time, there have been speculations that Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki would join this group.

The location of the congress is yet to be determined; Warsaw or its vicinity is being considered.

The PiS Political Council, which is to be elected in November, is composed of 119 party members elected by the congress, as well as chairmen of regional boards and MPs, senators and MEPs who are PiS members.

The head of the PiS club, Ryszard Terlecki, at the beginning of August, during an away club meeting, announcing the party’s autumn congress, denied that the PiS president could be changed at the congress.

Kaczyński, when asked in mid-July about the rumors that he was considering resigning from applying for the position of president, replied: – I can say one thing: I generally think that politics should be dealt with by people up to a certain age. Where it takes place is always an individual matter.

– You cannot hold too much of this younger generation, though already quite mature, because they are over 50, in a situation where someone is standing over them, even though they are almost a generation older. So you must definitely take into account the moment that must be approaching when I am gone. But whether it will be now, it will be decided by the party. If the party expects me to do so, I will leave without any pretensions. For I have been the boss of two consecutive parties for a long time, long enough. But if it is otherwise, I will probably take up this task again, although I do not know if it will be for the full four years of my term – said Kaczyński in July.
