Juventustrainer Andrea Pirlo is happy with the return of Matthijs de Ligt. The Dutch defender has only just returned from a shoulder operation, but played both against Cagliari and Ferencváros for ninety minutes.
“At the age of 20 we already knew that De Ligt is a real captain. We have been waiting for his return and know that he can give us a lot, both defensively and in keeping the team together with his passing from behind.” Pirlo is full of praise for the De Ligt bij Sky Sport Italy.
With Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci still injured, the return of De Ligt is a welcome boost for the Italian champion. Incidentally, the former Ajax player did play a negative role in the opening goal of the Hungarians. After losing a header game around the center line, Ferencváros managed to score. Cristiano Ronaldo and Álvaro Morata turned the score around and put Juventus in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
