Pirelli is forced to supply the same selection of tires to all Formula 1 teams NOW

Formula 1 teams will not be given the option to choose different numbers of available tire types at the restart of the season. Due to the busy calendar, Pirelli gives all teams the same tires.

In the first three races (two in Austria and one in Hungary) all teams receive eight soft sets (C2), three mediums (C3) and two hard (C4). This makes teams and drivers less able to vary tactics.

“Because we have many races in a short time, production is under enormous pressure,” Pirelli director Mario Isoli told Friday Car, engine and sport. “I’m talking about 35,000 tires that we have to produce.”

“The teams realize that we have to be flexible in these unprecedented times. That is why we determine the composition of the tire range for all teams.”

In the first of two races in Great Britain and at the Spanish Grand Prix, all drivers get softer tires: C1, C2 and C3. At the second British GP and the races in Belgium and Italy, all teams will have to do it again with thirteen sets of tires from categories C2, C3 and C4.

Formula 1 hopes to reveal full calendar before first race

Formula 1 has only announced the first eight races of the calendar. The FIA previously hoped to reveal the full calendar before the first race in Austria.

The delayed season starts on July 5 with the Austrian GP. Max Verstappen has won the race in the Alpine country in the last two years.
