Piranhas bit off a toe of a girl swimming in a river

In addition to the child, predatory fish of the haracin family were bitten by about thirty more people who were swimming in the river.

In Argentina, piranhas bit off a toe of a teenage girl while she was swimming in a river. About this on Wednesday, November 24, says Daily Mail.

The injured 13-year-old girl was urgently taken to the hospital, where doctors tried to save her finger, but they could not do this.

The publication writes that about 30 more people became victims of predatory fish. However, they escaped with lighter injuries.

Sergio Berardi, one of the rescuers who visited the scene, suggested that the high temperatures in the region, as well as the low water level in the river, were to blame for the fish attack on people.

Berardi said that “the rescuers on duty literally knocked themselves off their feet, trying to help all the affected people.”

“These fish move in schools, which is why we got so many casualties,” he explained.

After the incident, local authorities banned people from swimming in the river and put up appropriate signs.

Recall that marine biologists from Rice University in the United States found that a toothy rasp or snake-toothed fish loses up to 20 teeth a day and almost immediately grows new ones.
