MEXICO CITY.
A group of around 400 feminists participating in the march for the Global Day of Action for Legal and Safe Abortion broke the human fence formed by elements of the Atenea Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) who were also attacked.
Around 2:54 p.m., they launched several firecrackers at the fences formed by the agents that protect the central area of the capital.
The women gathered in the vicinity of the Monument to the Revolution and walked on the Paseo de la Reforma to join the Avenida Juárez in the downtown area of Mexico City.
The protesters – mostly with their faces covered and dressed in black – carry hammers, bats and some fire extinguishers with which they have sprayed the police guarding the demonstration.
In addition, they have painted on neighboring buildings in the southern direction of Avenida de la República, such as the ISSSTE Union, which has been closed for several years.
At the site there are also personnel from the Sub-secretariat of Traffic of the SSC and personnel from the Rescue and Emergency Medical Squad (ERUM).
