Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters calls President Joe Biden ‘criminal’ over war in Ukraine | Celebrities

CelebritiesRoger Waters (78), co-founder of Pink Floyd, made some strong statements in an interview with CNN. For example, he calls President Joe Biden a “criminal”. “He is feeding the fire in Ukraine.”

Roger Waters is currently touring North America with the show ‘This Is Not a Drill’. At one point, he shows a slideshow of people who, according to him, are “war criminals”. This includes current President Joe Biden. In a conversation with Michael Smerconisch of CNN, the musician explains why. “He’s feeding the fire in Ukraine, for starters,” Waters says. “That is a major crime. Why doesn’t the United States encourage Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, to negotiate that will eliminate the need for this horrific war that is costing the lives of a mass of Russians?” Smerconisch responds that he turns the matter around, and now places the blame on the country that was invaded. But Waters clearly disagrees. “When does a war start? What you have to do is look at history, only then can you say, “It started on that day.” You could say it started in 2008. This war revolves around action and response to NATO coming as far as the Russian border, which they promised not to do when negotiating with Gorbachev for the withdrawal of the USSR into Eastern Europe .”

Relationship with China

The two then also briefly discuss the role of America in World War II, and the relationship of the United States with China. “What about our role as liberators?” Smerconisch wants to know. “We don’t have that,” Waters responds. “I would suggest you do some reading and then try to figure out what the United States would do if the Chinese send nuclear-armed missiles to Mexico and Canada?” Smerconisch replies that China is too busy surrounding Taiwan, but Waters denies that. “Taiwan is part of China. And that has been accepted by the entire international community since 1948. If you don’t know that, then you aren’t reading enough. Go read about it.”

His statements have come at a great deal of criticism. For example, Kiev’s ambassador to Austria, Olexander Scherba, called the musician “a willless, heartless, merciless and lost person.” Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is happy with Waters’ statements. “There are still suitable people in the West. Pink Floyd forever,” he wrote on the social network vkontakte. His commentary was accompanied by Waters’ song ‘Wish You Were Here’.
