Piñera confirms end of roaming between Chile and Argentina: calls from both countries are now ‘local’ | National

This morning the president Sebastian Piñera confirmed the end of roaming to make calls between Chile and Argentina, so now the telephone communications between both countries will be considered as local.

The news was released in the middle of a call made with the trans-Andean president Alberto Fernandez.

From this moment, it is established that the use of mobile telephony when crossing each border will have the same rate and quality of service, as if it were made from the same country.

Likewise, the identification will be made through the SIM card of each phone itself, and each user will be able to connect with an operator on the other network paying only the cost you had in your country of origin.

Another good news is that data consumption will not incur extra charges for the user, in case of connecting to the internet, so the cost will be the same as if it were connected from its territory.

As detailed by the portal Infobae, both presidents spoke for several minutes and addressed the effect that the pandemic has had on their countries. Without going any further, the two have similar figures of total infections (over 400,000).

“We are working hard, trying to carry this coronavirus issue forward like everyone else, but I think well. We are ordering it little by little, with good health care. There near where you are, today we have the biggest problem, in Jujuy, in the north of Argentina, but later in the rest of the country everything is very contained in health terms. So we’re fine, thank God we’re fine, ”Fernández said.

To which Piñera replied: “The important thing, and that is how we have seen it, is that the health system resist to be able to pay attention to everyone, but it is a virus that does not spare anything or anyone.”

Likewise, the Argentine president invited the Chilean to visit his country in the medium term, to which the latter replied that he would.
