Pierre Guthrie who joined Alpine F1 “My mindset is completely different from when I transferred to Red Bull F1″[F1-Gate.com]

Pierre Gasly says he has a ‘completely different’ mindset about moving to the Alpine F1 team after learning from his failure at Red Bull in 2019.

Pierre Gasly, who made his F1 debut in 2017, joined the Alpine F1 team from 2023 after spending most of his career at Red Bull’s sister team AlphaTauri and its predecessor Toro Rosso.

Pierre Gasly was promoted to Red Bull Racing in 2019 to replace Daniel Ricciardo, but after 12 races he failed to perform as expected and returned to Toro Rosso during the summer break to replace Alex Albon.

Pierre Gasly has explained to Autosport how he believes the lessons learned from his failed promotion to Red Bull will help him succeed in his time with the Alpine F1 team.

“It feels like a long time ago when I was at Red Bull and a lot has happened since then, both professionally and personally,” said Gasly.

“I feel like I’ve really grown in all areas. I remember how I felt when I went to Red Bull, but now going to Alpine it’s a completely different feeling, approach and mindset.”

“I have a clearer idea. It’s clearer in my head about what I need to perform and what I need to stay competitive.”

“In good times and bad, I hope to make the most of this opportunity with Alpine, mainly with the experience I have gained at AlphaTauri and the experience I have learned at Red Bull.”

“I’m sure it’s going to be a big success, no doubt. In 2019, which was three years ago, I personally think we’ve made a lot of progress.”

After returning to Red Bull’s sister team, Gasly quickly emerged as a team leader, scoring podiums in Brazil in late 2019 and a stunning win at Monza the following year.

The performance sent his share price up significantly and Pierre Gasly was the frontrunner for the Alpine F1 team last year after the departure of Fernando Alonso and the move of junior driver Oscar Piastri to McLaren.

Gasly, who first touched Alpine F1 Team’s F1 car at the Abu Dhabi test in November after the Grand Prix, has had a rare opportunity to familiarize himself with the team in preparation for the three-day pre-season test in Bahrain next month.

Pierre Gasly has explained that he intends to join the Alpine F1 team with a “very open mind” about the car, especially after his long stint at Red Bull.

“Obviously I’m not going to spend a lot of time before the season starts, but I’m going to do all the necessary preparation and at the end of the day I know I can adapt quickly,” said Gasly. rice field.

“We have done so in the past. But we have to be aware that things can be very different, maybe not. It may or may not feel natural right away. “

“But it’s very important to come in with an open mind.”
