Photo review: At the end of this season in the cycle Symphony “Closer” – passionate Tchaikovsky

The Liepaja Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Andris Vecumnieks survived Peter Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony, often referred to as the Fate Symphony.

Listeners from almost all corners of Latvia got acquainted with this passionate autobiographical story of the genius of Russian music live from Liepaja. But not only that – this concert of Liepaja Symphony Orchestra was also watched by the audience in Great Britain, Lithuania, Norway, Germany, USA, Ukraine, Ireland, the Netherlands and Russia.

The concert was opened by a conversation between music reviewer Orest Silabriedis and conductor Andris Vecumnieks, while at the end of the concert, sworn attorney Ainars Kreics shared his impressions of the concert with the director of the concert hall Timurs Thomsons.

Now all four concert recordings of the cycle “Symphony CLOSER” are available for a small fee on the ticket sales site “Biļešu Paradīze”

The concert series “Symphony CLOSER” is designed to introduce listeners to the cornerstones of the world’s symphonic repertoire – beautiful, classical symphonies that everyone should know. During the first meeting with the symphony, the listeners could enjoy the popular masterpiece of classicism – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s 40th Symphony, played by the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra conducted by Guntis Kuzma. The second time was when the orchestra, led by conductor Normund Schne, introduced the audience to the wonderful world of music by the Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, playing his Third Symphony, full of extraordinary strength and energy. In the third concert of this cycle, maestro Gintars Rinkevičs delighted the audience with a reading of the impressive Ninth Symphony of Antonin Dvorak “From the New World”.

On May 20 (at 7 pm), the cycle of concert talks of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra “CLOSER” will resume. This time we will get acquainted with the wooden wind ensemble “Kurland quintet” of the musicians of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, but on June 17 we will introduce the unique personality of the harpist Dartas Tisenkopfa. Also, these concerts will be available for free live on both orchestra websites www.liepajassimfoniskais.lv video gallery, as well as the orchestra’s Facebook page facebook.com/Liepaja.Symphony.Orchestra.
