According to “Delfi” representatives of the concert hall, the audience welcomed the musically and visually magnificent performances of pianist Vestarda Šimkus, violinist Darja Smirnova and the Liepāja Chamber Orchestra with ovations. He also enthusiastically greeted the present composer Pēteris Vaskas.”

The virtuoso pianist in the first part of the concert show Vestard Šimkus played the meditative piano works cycle “Seasons” by the composer Pēteras Vaskas, for which a special light show was created by Mārtiņš Feldmanis, who as the best light artist of the year has twice received the “Spēlmaņu nakts” award of the Latvian theaters. Vasks has been working on the ambitious cycle of piano works for almost 30 years – the cycle had its premiere in 2009, when Vestard Šimkus performed it in Liepāja.

In the second part of the concert, the talented violinist of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Darja Smirnova, took the stage, who together with the Liepāja Chamber Orchestra played the world classic – Antonio Vivaldi’s “Seasons”, which consists of four violin concertos “Spring”, “Vasara”, “Winter” and “Autumn”. It is one of the most popular opuses of classical music, which has undergone countless arrangements and interpretations around the world. While composing this later so famous music, Vivaldi took great pleasure in drawing scenes of nature and everyday life, and also writing a verbatim transcription of them in the score.

For each of the seasons, a special 3D video performance was prepared by one of the highly regarded video artists in Latvia – Mīnus Astoņi or Andris Vētra took care of the spring visual representation, Artis Dzērve for summer, Vikijs or Viktors Keino for winter, while Ineta Sipunova was responsible for autumn.
