Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport to Host interactive Desert Wildlife Experience
PHOENIX – Passengers at Phoenix Sky Harbor International airport will have the chance to get up close with some of Arizona’s unique desert inhabitants during a special “Learn & Go” event hosted by the airport’s Culture Corner. The activity, scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, from 1 to 3 p.m., will feature a presentation by educators from the Phoenix zoo.
The event aims to showcase the vibrant life found in Arizona’s deserts. Attendees can expect to see and learn about animals such as a tiger salamander, an Arizona pocket mouse, a desert tortoise, domestic rabbits, and a red-tailed hawk. The lineup of featured animals is subject to change.
The Culture Corner, established in January as part of phoenix Sky Harbor’s 90th-anniversary celebrations, is designed to enrich the travel experience for all airport visitors.This initiative aligns with the airport’s ongoing commitment to enhancing passenger journeys, a core aspect of its identity as “America’s Friendliest Airport®.”
This program offers a space for people of all ages to engage in quick,interactive learning opportunities. Past Culture Corner events have included a variety of cultural and artistic activities, such as calligraphy and paper folding with the Phoenix Sister Cities Taipei Committee, spoken word performances and hand-drumming for Black History Month, puppet making and airplane construction with the Arizona Heritage Center, Navajo weaving demonstrations by the Heard Museum, traditional dancing, music, and games celebrating Native Hawaiian and pacific Islander Heritage Month, and petroglyph creation paired with local archaeology education from the S’edav Va’aki Museum.
